She reached Ethan's floor before security stopped her.
Her name was Rachel Dunn.
A former nurse at Montigue Child Wellness.
Inside her bag:
A syringe.
A forged transfer order.
A child's sedative dose.
And Ethan's passport photograph.
Lily stared at the evidence.
“They were going to take him out of the country.”
Victor's hands clenched.
Rachel refused to talk.
Then investigators showed her the ledger.
Her name was there.
Payments.
Dates.
Amounts.
Her face collapsed.
She asked for an attorney.
Ethan was moved into protective custody.
For the first time in his life, Victor Blackwood was not allowed to decide where his son slept.
He accepted it.
That mattered.
Days later, Isabella arrived.
The reunion between mother and son was painfully slow.
Ethan did not recognize her.
He clung to Lily.
Isabella smiled through tears.
“That's okay.”
She did not force him.
Victor watched from the corner.
Later, Isabella told him about the boat.
Serena had lured her there.
A sedative.
A staged accident.
A stolen identity.
A false death.
Then she revealed the most devastating detail.
Serena had lied about Ethan's birth.
She had taken Isabella's child.
Victor's knees nearly gave way.
His son's first year had been built on a stolen mother.
Then Detective Brooks arrived.
Anthony had begun cooperating.
And he claimed Serena intended to make her final move at the upcoming Blackwood charity gala.
Victor wanted the event canceled.
But Dana Brooks shook her head.
“No.”
Serena believed the ledger was still incomplete.
She would come for it.
