Chapter 15 - RebuildingMonths passed. The bustling noise of New York City was replaced by the soothing, rhythmic sounds of the ocean in Montauk. Julian stepped back from his high-stress role at the hedge fund, handing daily operations over to Marcus so he could devote every waking hour to Lily.

They spent their days walking along the sandy beach, flying colorful kites, and building massive sandcastles near the tide. Under the care of a compassionate child psychologist, Lily gradually began to regain her joy. Her laughter, once completely suppressed, now echoed freely through the bright, sunlit rooms of the beach house.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon in a brilliant display of orange and pink, Julian sat with Lily at the kitchen table. They were making homemade pizza together.
"Look, Daddy! I made a heart with the pepperoni!" Lily giggled, her tiny hands covered in flour.
Julian smiled, his heart swelling with an overwhelming sense of warmth. "It looks delicious, sweetie. Place it right in the middle of the plate."
Lily paused for a brief moment, staring at the porcelain plate in front of her. A small shadow of hesitation crossed her young face, a lingering memory of her past trauma. Julian knelt beside her, wrapping his warm hand over hers gently.

"You deserve the best plate in the house, Lily," he whispered softly into her ear. "Always."
She looked at him, her bright blue eyes shining with trust, and nodded happily. The dark shadows of the past were finally fading away.
