Chapter 6 - The Turning Tide

Back in the courtyard, the illusion of loyalty among Eleanor’s inner circle had completely dissolved. Socialites who once laughed at Eleanor's cruel jokes were now eagerly handing over flash drives, text messages, and recorded phone calls to Victoria’s investigators.

Among them was Marcus, Eleanor's long-time chief legal advisor, who approached Victoria with a nervous bow. "Ms. Thorne, I have everything you asked for. The offshore accounts, the falsified medical records from when your mother 'disappeared,' and the property deeds Eleanor stole."

Victoria looked at him coldly. "You helped her forge those documents for ten years, Marcus."

"I was coerced!" Marcus pleaded, holding up a heavily encrypted drive. "This contains the master decryption key to her private server. It will put her away for decades. Please consider my cooperation."

Victoria took the drive, slipping it into her blazer pocket. "Your cooperation buys you a fair trial instead of a midnight swim with the sharks, Marcus. Take it as a generous offer."
