Chapter 4 - The Custody Trap and the Corporate Coup

Three days after his miraculous return, Edward found himself discharged into what felt like a

gilded cage. Julian and Clara had moved him back to the sprawling estate under the guise of

"recovery and round-the-clock medical care," effectively cutting off his direct access to the

outside world, legal counsel, and the board of directors. More cruelly, Clara kept Madison

sequestered in the East Wing, using the child as an emotional hostage. "You want to fight us,

Edward? You want to drag this through the press and ruin the IPO?" Julian sneered, leaning over

Edward’s wheelchair in the sunroom. "If you make one wrong move, Clara will file for

emergency guardianship, claim you're mentally unstable from the trauma, and ship Madison off

to a boarding school in Switzerland before sunrise." Edward’s fists clenched against the armrests,

his knuckles turning white. He realized that direct confrontation would result in losing his

daughter. He needed to play a dangerous game of psychological chess, pretending to suffer from

memory gaps while secretly mobilizing his loyal allies within the company’s lower ranks—the

engineers, administrative assistants, and compliance officers whom Julian had arrogantly

overlooked.
