Chapter 5 - The Safehouse of Secrets

Navigating the labyrinthine hedge mazes of the estate where they had played countless times, Leo
guided his mother toward the old greenhouse—a decrepit glass structure long forgotten by the
modern security updates. Inside lay a subterranean storm shelter built during the Cold War, its rusted
iron hatch hidden beneath an old potting bench.
Once safely bolted inside the damp, concrete-walled bunker, Elena collapsed onto a cot, pulling Leo
into a tight, trembling embrace. "You saved my life, my brave little man," she whispered, tears
mingling with the rainwater on her cheeks. "If you hadn't trusted your instincts... if you hadn't come
looking for me..."
"Uncle Victor is a monster," Leo said, his voice steady despite the adrenaline crash. "He thinks he's
won because he controls the board, but he forgot something crucial." Leo reached into the inner
pocket of his tailored jacket and pulled out a small, encrypted micro-drive. "Before he drugged you, I
overheard him talking on his phone about transferring the offshore accounts. I downloaded the
primary decryption keys straight from his study tablet while he was busy preparing your fake
funeral." Elena stared at her son in absolute awe. The war for the Vance empire had only just begun,
and the boy was holding the ultimate weapon.
