Chapter 3 - The Little Witness with a Glowing Screen

“Dad, wait!” yelled nine-year-old Chloe, stepping forward from the shadow of the grand fireplace.
In her outstretched hand, she held her smartphone, the screen brightly displaying a paused video
frame of the exact moment on the staircase. Adrian froze, his grip on Elena loosening as he
stared at his daughter in confusion. “You’re lying, Clara,” Chloe stated calmly, her young eyes
flashing with fierce intelligence. “You didn't scream to warn her. You shoved the stroller from
behind while Elena had her back turned, and then you jumped back so look like the victim!”
Panic instantly stripped the color from Clara’s face as she lunged toward Chloe, screeching, “Give
me that phone right now, you ungrateful little brat!” But Adrian stepped between them, his hand
snatching the phone from his daughter’s palm. Pressing play, Adrian watched the security-grade
