Chapter 5 - The Boardroom ShowdownThe sun rose over New York City, casting a blinding golden light across the glass skyscrapers. Inside the grand conference room of Vance Enterprises, the atmosphere was dense enough to cut with a knife.

The board members sat in absolute silence as Julian Vance stood at the head of the mahogany table, looking smug and triumphant. He had called an emergency session, claiming the CEO was unfit to lead due to personal instability and financial mismanagement.

"Gentlemen," Julian began smoothly, folding his hands on the table. "We all know my brother has done wonders for this company, but his recent erratic behavior—and the rumors of questionable associations within his own household—pose a severe risk to our shareholders. I move for an immediate vote of no confidence to strip Alexander Vance of his executive powers."

Murmurs rippled through the board members. Several older executives exchanged uneasy glances, nodding in agreement.

Just as Julian raised his hand to call for the vote, the heavy oak doors of the conference room swung wide open.

Alexander walked in, impeccably dressed in a tailored charcoal suit, his expression cold, calm, and absolute. Right behind him walked Chloe, dressed in a sharp, professional business suit, carrying a secure digital tablet.

Julian’s smug smile faltered for a fraction of a second. "What is the meaning of this? Why is the maid in the boardroom?"

"She isn't just a maid, Julian," Alexander said smoothly, taking his seat at the head of the table. "Meet Chloe Hayes, my newly appointed Chief of Internal Audit and Compliance. Coincidentally, also the person who spent last night auditing the subsidiary accounts you've been secretly draining."

Color instantly drained from Julian's face. "That's absurd! She's a nobody—she doesn't even have a degree!"

Chloe stepped forward, unphased by the gasps in the room. She connected her tablet to the main screen, projecting a detailed financial trail of offshore accounts directly tied to Julian’s personal Swiss bank.

"Mr. Julian Vance has systematically funneled four point two million dollars from the R&D department over the past six months," Chloe stated clearly, her voice echoing with unshakable confidence. "Every single transaction has been verified, timestamped, and matched with his digital signature."

Pandemonium erupted in the room. Board members stood up, shouting in outrage as the hard proof flashed across the giant screen.

Julian lunged forward, desperate to shut off the console, but corporate security guards stepped in instantly, pinning his arms behind his back.

"You're done, Julian," Alexander whispered coldly as his stepbrother was hauled out of the room in disgrace.
