Chapter 6 - THE BOARDROOM KNIFE The next morning, Nathan entered Cole Tower without his usual briefcase.

The boardroom was already full.
Victoria sat beside Sebastian.
Then Eleanor entered.
She carried a leather folder.
Nathan immediately recognized her authority.
“Why are you here?”
Eleanor answered calmly.
“As successor trustee of the Charles Cole Family Trust.”
Nathan froze.
His father's trust was worth billions.
And Eleanor controlled it.
She invoked the preservation clause.
Nathan's voting rights were suspended.
His executive authority was challenged.
The board accused him of impaired judgment.
Nathan almost laughed.
“Because I acknowledged my daughter?”
“Because you are allowing emotion to threaten the company.”
Nathan played Rourke's recording.
The room went silent.
Your father ordered Lily's existence contained.
Sebastian dismissed it as illegal.
Then Nathan placed Charles's confession on the table.
Eleanor remained calm.
Until Nathan said:
“You knew about Lily.”
Her eyes changed.
Only for a second.
But Nathan saw it.
The board voted to suspend him.
As Nathan walked out, his phone buzzed.
Rourke had agreed to cooperate.
One sentence followed:
CHARLES KEPT A SECOND LEDGER.
Nathan stopped.
A second ledger.
Something containing names.
Payments.
Favors.
People who had helped his family bend the world.
The war was larger than Grace.
May you like
Larger than Lily.
It was the system itself.
