Chapter 4 - The Fortress on the HillThe wrought-iron gates of the Moretti estate parted automatically as their vehicle approached, swinging open like the jaws of a silent giant. Elena stared out the tinted window in awe as the SUV navigated a winding, tree-lined driveway that led up to a magnificent, modern stone mansion overlooking the glittering skyline of the city.

When the car came to a smooth halt, the door was promptly opened by an elderly, impeccably dressed butler with kind eyes and a posture of absolute dignity.
"Welcome home, Madam, and welcome to the young master," the butler said respectfully, bowing slightly toward Elena.
Elena hesitated, stepping out onto the cobblestone courtyard with the baby securely swaddled in her arms. "Home? But I—I don't belong here. I'm just..."
"You are a guest of Mr. Moretti, which makes you the most important person in this house," the butler interrupted gently, introducing himself as Thomas. "Please, follow me. The nursery has been prepared."
Elena followed Thomas through massive oak double doors into a grand foyer adorned with minimalist art, warm lighting, and soaring ceilings. Every detail radiated power and refined elegance, yet the atmosphere inside was remarkably tranquil.
Upstairs, Thomas led her into a breathtaking nursery painted in soft pastel blues and warm creams. A magnificent crib carved from dark cherry wood sat near a large bay window framing the city lights. A row of neatly organized baby supplies, clothes, and organic blankets lined the shelves.
Elena stopped dead in her tracks, her breath catching in her throat. She turned to Thomas, her eyes wide with disbelief. "This... this room. It looks like it was ready and waiting for a baby. How is that possible?"

Thomas offered a warm, enigmatic smile. "Mr. Moretti anticipates many things, Miss Vance. He does not leave victory—or safety—to chance. Please make yourself comfortable. A doctor will be by shortly to check on you and the little one."
As Thomas bowed and quietly withdrew from the room, leaving the heavy door slightly ajar, Elena gently laid her son into the crib. The baby yawned, stretching his tiny fingers into the air. Tears welled up in Elena’s eyes once more, but this time, they were tears of profound relief. Yet, a nagging question burned in her mind: Who is Luca Moretti, and why did he have a nursery prepared before they even arrived?
