Chapter 6 - The InterrogationInside the high-security federal interrogation room, the fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, casting a harsh glow on Marcus Sterling. Gone was the arrogant, untouchable heir of a multi-billion-dollar dynasty. Now, he looked like a cornered animal, staring frantically at the two-way mirror.

The heavy steel door swung open, and Victoria entered, followed by her chief legal counsel. She didn't sit down immediately; she walked around the table, leaning in close to Marcus.

"Please, Victoria—uh, Ms. Vance," Marcus stammered, his voice cracking. "It was my mother! She forced me! She said if I didn't divorce Maya and help push her out, she would cut me off completely! I didn't want her to hurt Maya!"

"Save your cowardly excuses for a jury," Victoria replied coldly, tossing a thick dossier onto the table. "Look at page fourteen, Marcus. That's your signature on the corporate asset-stripping documents meant to bankrupt my sister's personal trust. And look at page twenty-two—text messages between you and your mother laughing about how you tricked Maya into signing away her inheritance rights."

Marcus stared at the papers in sheer horror. "How... how did you get those?"

"You think because you deleted them from your phone they vanished into thin air?" Victoria scoffed. "My intelligence team owns the servers your firm uses. We've had a digital leash around your neck for six months. We were just waiting for the right moment to pull it tight."

"If you send me to prison, my life is over!" Marcus sobbed, clutching his head in his hands.

"Your life was over the moment you raised a hand against my family, metaphorically or literally," Victoria said, turning toward the door. "By the time the courts finish with you, every single penny the Sterlings stole will be returned, and you will spend the best years of your life behind bars."
