Chapter 9 - Healing WoundsTwo months later, the Sterling estate—now reclaimed and completely renovated under new ownership—was bathed in the warm, golden glow of an autumn sunset.

The harsh, cold marble patio where terror once reigned had been transformed into a vibrant garden filled with blooming white roses and lush green foliage. Soft instrumental music drifted through the open air, and the swimming pool sparkled under strings of fairy lights.

Inside the grand living room, Maya stood before a mirror, adjusting a simple, elegant ivory dress. She looked healthier, stronger, and more radiant than she had in years. The shadows of fear that once haunted her eyes had been replaced by a quiet, resilient peace.

In a bassinet nearby, her two-month-old daughter slept peacefully, breathing softly.

A gentle knock sounded at the door, and Victoria entered, holding a small silver box. She smiled warmly as she looked at her sister. "You look breathtaking, Maya. Are you ready?"

"I am," Maya replied, turning around with a genuine smile. "I still can't believe all of this is real. That we're actually free."

"You earned every bit of this peace," Victoria said, walking over and placing the silver box into Maya's hands. "Open it."

Maya carefully lifted the lid. Inside lay the legal deeds to the estate, now legally transferred entirely into her name, along with a newly minted trust fund guaranteeing absolute financial independence for her and her daughter for the rest of their lives.

"Victoria, I... I don't know what to say," Maya choked up, tears of gratitude welling in her eyes. "You gave me my life back."

"I just gave you what was always yours," Victoria said softly, embracing her sister tightly. "Now come on. Our guests are waiting outside."
