Chapter 12 - The Safe Combination

Miranda changed the safe combination.

Then regretted doing it immediately.

Not because security was wrong.

Because she realized she was reacting to fear rather than designing a system.

She called Nathan.

“What should I actually do?”

Independent inventory.

Dual access for original estate documents.

No household employee with unilateral access.

Digital logging.

Emergency procedures.

Simple.

Miranda laughed.

“All of this because we trusted one person.”

Nathan corrected:

“Because your family built a system where trust replaced controls.”

That sentence stayed.
