Miranda had adored her father.
That remained the hardest part.
She found home videos.
Graham teaching her tennis.
Graham crying at her graduation.
Graham holding newborn Tess hours after delivery.
The same man who hid $2.1 million of personal losses inside family accounts.
Miranda wanted one version to defeat the other.
Neither did.
Nathan found Graham’s private notes.
One entry:
If I tell Lillian about Harbor Point, she will never trust my judgment again.
Another:
Dalton can move the invoices. Temporary. Repay after refinance.
Then:
She wants more compensation. Fair. She is taking risk.
Miranda stared.
Her father had recruited Mrs. Dalton into dishonesty.
Paid her.
Normalized it.
Then when his finances improved, he repaid only part.
Mrs. Dalton learned a dangerous lesson.
Rules could be bent when powerful people needed something.
Miranda whispered:
“He taught her.”
Nathan answered carefully.
“He taught her one method.”
“He didn't make her continue.”
“No.”
