Chapter 10 - The Tables TurnJudge Harrison’s face darkened with unmistakable anger as he finished reviewing the evidence packet. He looked up from the bench, his sharp gaze locking directly onto Arthur Vance and then shifting slowly toward Sarah, who was now trembling visibly in her seat.

"Mr. Vance," Judge Harrison said, his voice dropping into a chillingly cold register. "Did your client inform you that she was the primary aggressor in the physical altercation recorded on this device?"

Arthur Vance swallowed hard, adjusting his tie as he glanced sideways at Sarah, realizing for the first time that he had been fed a pack of lies by his own client. "Uhm, Your Honor, we were unaware of—"

"Clearly," Judge Harrison interrupted bluntly. He turned his attention back to Mark and Emily. "Mrs. Taylor, the court extends its deepest apologies for the trauma you and your child have been subjected to under your own roof. The emergency petition for guardianship is hereby denied with prejudice."

A collective gasp echoed through the gallery. Sarah slammed her hands down on the table, half-rising from her chair. "You can't do this! That girl is a fraud—she stole my family's legacy!"

"Sit down, Mrs. Taylor, or you will be held in contempt of court by the bailiff," Judge Harrison commanded with booming authority. Sarah collapsed back into her chair, her face flushed with humiliation and rage as her carefully constructed house of cards collapsed completely.

The judge continued, addressing the courtroom with formal finality. "Furthermore, based on the historical documentation presented regarding the fraudulent seizure of property deeds and systematic harassment, this court is forwarding these files to the District Attorney's office for review of potential perjury, filing false police reports, and extortion."

Arthur Vance hurriedly began packing his legal briefs into his leather briefcase, distancing himself as far as possible from Sarah and her collapsing legal strategy.

Mark let out a long, shuddering breath, feeling an immense physical weight lift off his shoulders for the first time in weeks. He turned to Emily, taking her hand and squeezing it tightly. Her eyes were bright with tears of profound relief, a soft, radiant smile finally breaking through the exhausting shadows of the past week.

As the bailiff escorted a furious, muttering Sarah out of the courtroom through a side exit, Mark knew the legal battle was over, and their true healing could finally begin.
