Chapter 11 - Hospital Security Locks Down The Entire Pediatric Wing

The chief of hospital security rushed into the room, panting heavily as he secured the perimeter against outside interference.
“Mr. Vance, we’ve sealed all stairwells, elevators, and exit doors leading out of the pediatric wing,” the chief reported efficiently.
“Ensure no communications devices leave my mother’s possession; she has powerful political allies in this city,” Marcus instructed.
“Already confiscated her encrypted smartphone and handed it directly to federal marshals waiting downstairs,” the chief confirmed.
Eleanor glared daggers at Marcus, her eyes filled with a venomous hatred that defied any maternal bond whatsoever.
“You are destroying generations of hard work for a brat who won't even live to see her next birthday,” Eleanor spat out viciously.

Before Marcus could answer, one of the security guards slapped heavy steel handcuffs onto Eleanor’s wrists with a definitive click.
The pristine ivory and burgundy silk of her designer outfit looked grotesque against the cold steel of the municipal restraints.
