“You signed a DNR for a six-year-old child who is fighting for her life, Mother,” Marcus said, his voice dangerously low.
“I was only looking out for the family name, and sparing this child from unnecessary suffering!” Eleanor defended herself shrilly.
“You wanted her gone so you could control the family trust and the upcoming corporate merger without interference,” Marcus retorted.
“That is an outrageous lie! I am her grandmother!” Eleanor shrieked, taking a panicked step toward the heavy oak door.
“Nurse Sarah, lock the doors and call hospital security immediately,” Marcus commanded without breaking eye contact with Eleanor.
“Right away, Mr. Vance,” Sarah responded, dashing toward the doorway before Eleanor could intercept her.
