Chapter 18 - The Arrest Warrant Signed By The District Attorney
The district attorney held a televised press conference on the steps of the Boston municipal courthouse at noon.
Camera flashes illuminated the courthouse plaza as formal indictments were announced against Eleanor Vance and her co-conspirators.
Marcus watched the live broadcast from the television in Chloe’s hospital recovery room while peeling an orange for his daughter.
“Daddy, are bad people going to jail now?” Chloe asked softly, sitting up against her floral hospital pillows.
“Yes, sweetheart, the people who tried to hurt you will never be able to come near this family again,” Marcus promised with a gentle smile.
Chloe smiled back, her cheeks finally regaining some healthy color as she hugged her worn brown teddy bear tightly.
