Chapter 6 - The Sister Khloe Still Wanted

Khloe didn’t immediately become furious.

She became sad.

That surprised me.

“She thinks Dad chose us over her.”

“He didn’t.”

“That doesn’t mean she didn’t feel it.”

Khloe remembered Isabella missing birthdays after Anthony remarried.

Christmases split between households.

Anthony canceling a weekend with Isabella because baby Khloe had pneumonia.

Tiny family events acquire enormous meaning when resentment has decades to grow around them.

None excused assault.

They explained why embryos could become emotionally explosive.

To Isabella, they represented the family she believed Anthony should have preserved.

Khloe made a painful decision.

She stopped trying to repair the relationship herself.

Natalie would handle all communication.

Isabella would have no hospital access.

No direct calls.

No messages.

Khloe cried after blocking her.

“She’s still my sister.”

“I know.”

“What if this is the last conversation we ever have?”

I didn’t say good.

A year earlier I might have.

Instead I sat beside her.

That evening Khloe received a message from Catherine.

Isabella’s mother.

They rarely communicated.

Catherine wrote:

Please don't sign anything. Isabella doesn't understand what she's asking for.

Khloe showed me.

“Call her?”

“No.”

That was Khloe’s choice.

Natalie contacted Catherine’s attorney instead.

The response arrived the next afternoon.

Catherine still possessed legal interests connected to the embryos.

And she did not consent to Isabella controlling them.

That changed the entire dispute.

Isabella had been pressuring Khloe for authority Khloe might never have possessed alone.

So why risk everything attacking her?

Unless the embryos themselves weren’t Isabella’s actual objective.
