Chapter 8 - Khloe Chooses the Record
Khloe could request preservation through proper legal channels.
Doing so meant accepting that private moments in her hospital room might become relevant to a dispute.
She hated that.
“I was changing in there.”
“We don't know what the camera captured,” I said.
“Exactly.”
The hospital explained the camera’s field primarily covered the doorway and a portion of the room, not the bathroom.
Still, Khloe felt violated by the idea of strangers reviewing footage.
I wanted to say we needed it.
I didn’t.
Her room.
Her privacy.
Her decision.
She thought overnight.
The next morning she instructed Natalie to proceed with a formal preservation request limited to relevant periods.
That was irreversible.
The family conflict now had a record outside the family.
Isabella reacted within hours.
Her attorney sent a letter alleging I assaulted her.
True.
It also claimed Isabella had attempted to assist Khloe after an accidental fall.
Not true according to Khloe.
My slap had given Isabella leverage.
I told Natalie I would not deny it.
She nodded.
“Good.”
That surprised me.
“You're not worried?”
“I'd be more worried if you lied about something documented.”
Accountability again.
I provided my own statement.
I entered.
Saw Isabella pinning Khloe.
Pulled her away.
Slapped her.
No embellishment.
No excuse.
Meanwhile Khloe documented her account separately.
Then Catherine agreed to provide historical fertility records and correspondence she legally possessed.
That decision enraged Isabella.
She called her mother repeatedly.
Catherine stopped answering.
For the first time, Isabella was losing control of the family narrative.
And her response revealed her hidden priority.
Through counsel she offered to drop every complaint involving my slap if Khloe signed the acknowledgment.
Khloe read the offer twice.
Then laughed.
Not because it was funny.
Because Isabella had finally made the exchange explicit.
She wanted the signature more than she wanted accountability for being hit.
Khloe rejected it.
