Chapter 7 - The Hidden Security Footage Reveals A Dark Conspiracy

Arthur Sterling went dead silent on the line, processing the catastrophic threat directed at the foundation of the firm.

“Nathan, you wouldn't destroy your own inheritance over a maid and a child,” Arthur argued, though panic laced his words.

“Watch me,” Nathan replied, motioning toward the smart home security monitor mounted beside the pantry wall.

With a few quick keystrokes, Nathan unlocked the master surveillance archive that recorded every interaction on the estate grounds.

He queued up the footage from earlier that evening, casting the high-definition video onto the large kitchen smart display.

The screen clearly showed Victoria raising the heavy wooden hockey stick and striking Grace across the shoulder while Lily cried.

Chief Vance stared at the monitor, his face draining of color as he realized he was currently standing in a crime scene.

“That’s... that’s assault with a deadly weapon caught in 4K high definition,” one of the younger accompanying officers muttered nervously.

“And the warrant you brought, Chief? Fabricated evidence signed by a judge who takes bribes from the Kensingtons,” Nathan added.

Chief Vance slowly took his hand off his revolver, looking between Victoria on the floor and the glaring security screen.

“Clear the house,” Chief Vance ordered his officers quietly, realizing his career was about to be sacrificed for a losing battle.
