Chapter 22 - The Poisonous Demand

Sofia instructed Mateo to bring the filthy, aggressive man into a completely isolated, soundproof holding room situated far away from the main house.

She did not want Arturo’s toxic, venomous presence to ever contaminate the beautiful, peaceful sanctuary where her innocent children were currently sleeping.

When Sofia confidently stepped into the cold, steel interrogation room, she was completely draped in expensive silk and radiating absolute, undeniable authority.

Arturo sneered at her, his greedy eyes aggressively scanning the massive, flawless diamond resting heavily on her left ring finger.

"Look at you, my ungrateful little girl, living like a spoiled princess while your own flesh and blood rots in the gutters," Arturo spat bitterly.

Sofia did not flinch, she did not cry, and she absolutely did not revert back to the terrified, helpless child she had once been in his presence.

"You are absolutely not my family, Arturo, you are nothing but a pathetic ghost who abandoned a dying boy and a starving girl," Sofia replied with a voice of pure ice.

Arturo aggressively slammed his hands down on the metal table, entirely attempting to use the old, violent intimidation tactics that used to terrify her.

He loudly threatened to go directly to the global press, fabricating horrific, highly damaging lies about her past to destroy her new, flawless philanthropic reputation.

He demanded exactly five million dollars in untraceable cash, completely promising to disappear forever once the extortion was paid.

Sofia stared at the pathetic, broken man across the table, feeling absolutely nothing but a profound, overwhelming disgust for his existence.

She knew instantly that paying a blackmailer never actually buys silence; it merely guarantees they will eventually return to aggressively demand more blood.
