Chapter 26 - The Truth Revealed

Sofia gasped violently, her entire body completely going limp against Dante’s solid, unyielding chest as the terrifying reality washed entirely over her.
"Diego... is he completely safe?" she choked out, hot, frantic tears of absolute panic immediately spilling down her pale cheeks.
"He is entirely unharmed, heavily guarded, and currently on his way back to the safety of this fortress," Dante promised softly, kissing her trembling forehead.
Sofia buried her face deeply into his expensive shirt, completely overwhelmed by a crushing, entirely agonizing wave of profound guilt.
She had foolishly believed she could completely handle the darkness on her own, arrogantly forgetting that she was entirely married to the undisputed king of the shadows.
"I was so incredibly desperate to protect your peace, Dante," Sofia sobbed, her fingers gripping his shoulders with absolute, desperate strength.
"You have spent three agonizing years fighting to become a good, legitimate man for us, and I entirely refused to drag you back into the violent dirt."
Dante lifted her chin aggressively, forcing her tear-filled eyes to lock directly onto his intense, completely uncompromising gaze.
"I am a good man exclusively for you and the children, Sofia, but I will absolutely always be a ruthless, terrifying monster to anyone who dares to threaten my family."
He wiped her tears gently with his thumbs, his expression entirely softening into a look of pure, overwhelming, unconditional devotion.
