Before the surviving, completely terrified attacker could even put the dark van into gear, the driver’s side window was violently smashed inward with a heavy steel baton.
Mateo, the towering, incredibly brutal head of Navarro security, dragged the screaming man through the shattered glass directly onto the unforgiving concrete.
Mateo pressed his heavy combat boot aggressively into the man’s throat, completely pinning him down while checking Diego for any severe injuries.
Diego was bleeding from a shallow cut on his forehead, but he was perfectly conscious and entirely flooded with protective adrenaline.
Back at the heavily fortified estate, Dante was standing silently in his dimly lit office, staring coldly out the window at the beautiful moonlit gardens.
The heavy wooden doors clicked softly, and Sofia walked in carrying two warm cups of herbal tea, completely unaware of the violent chaos unfolding in the city.
Dante turned to face his beautiful, completely oblivious wife, his dark eyes swirling with an intense, incredibly complicated mixture of deep anger and profound love.
"Why did you explicitly order my men to hide your father's aggressive extortion attempt from me, Sofia?" Dante asked, his voice a low, terrifyingly calm rumble.
Sofia completely froze in the center of the plush Persian rug, her eyes widening in absolute shock as the expensive teacups rattled nervously in her hands.
"You were actively having me watched inside my own house?" she asked, her voice trembling with a sudden, highly defensive indignation.
"I have monitored absolutely everything that threatens you since the very first day I saw you crying in my foyer," Dante replied, stepping entirely into her personal space.

He gently took the rattling teacups from her shaking hands, setting them down before wrapping his massive arms fiercely around her waist.
"Your brother was just ambushed by armed mercenaries hired by Arturo, but Mateo successfully eliminated the threat before they could even scratch him."
