Chapter 24 - The Trap is Set

Diego walked out of the massive university library late on a Friday evening, his backpack heavily loaded with expensive medical textbooks.

He was incredibly proud of his pristine academic record, fiercely determined to become a world-class surgeon to repay the incredible second chance at life Dante had given him.

As he walked toward the secure, well-lit student parking garage, a dark, heavily tinted van aggressively screeched to a halt right in front of him.

Three large, heavily armed men wearing dark ski masks violently jumped out of the sliding doors, tackling the terrified young student directly onto the hard concrete.

Diego fought back with absolute ferocity, completely channeling the fierce, aggressive survival instincts he had learned from living in the Navarro household.

He violently elbowed one of the massive attackers in the jaw, hearing a deeply satisfying crunch of bone before another man struck him heavily with a baton.

The heavy blow instantly blurred Diego’s vision, entirely dropping him to his knees as the aggressive attackers frantically dragged him toward the waiting van.

But Dante Navarro was not a man who ever left his beloved family completely vulnerable or unprotected, even when they were safely at school.

Two of Dante’s elite, deeply undercover sicarios stepped silently out of the shadows of the concrete pillars, their suppressed weapons already perfectly aimed.

They did not shout highly dramatic warnings, they did not announce their presence, and they completely bypassed any form of negotiation.

Two rapid, incredibly quiet shots echoed through the empty garage, and two of the masked kidnappers instantly collapsed permanently onto the pavement.

The third attacker panicked, aggressively throwing Diego to the ground and sprinting desperately back toward the driver's seat of the van.
