Chapter 14 - THE OLD WAREHOUSE

The clue came from a phone number hidden inside Vittorio’s financial records.

It belonged to an abandoned warehouse near the river.

Lorenzo wanted to go alone.

Emma refused.

“You're not walking into a trap without backup.”

He stared at her.

“You're staying here.”

“No.”

“Emma.”

“I know that look.”

“What look?”

“The one you use when you think ordering people around makes you invincible.”

For a second, his anger vanished.

“You're impossible.”

“So you keep telling me.”

He finally agreed to take her, guarded from a distance.

The warehouse was dark and silent.

Inside, they discovered dozens of boxes containing forged documents, weapons, and photographs of politicians.

Then Emma noticed something.

A photograph of Elena.

Taken years ago.

Beside it was a second photograph.

Lorenzo’s father.

Emma slowly turned toward him.

“Why would Vittorio have these?”

Lorenzo's face went pale.

“My father wasn't just fighting Vittorio.”

“What do you mean?”

“He was trying to expose him.”

A sound echoed overhead.

Footsteps.

Lorenzo pulled Emma behind him.

The lights suddenly went out.

Someone laughed in the darkness.

“Hello, nephew.”

May you like

Vittorio’s voice echoed through the warehouse.

And Lorenzo knew the past had finally come looking for blood.
