Noah and Claire welcomed a baby girl named Elena.
When Emma heard the name, she cried.
“You didn't tell me.”
“We wanted it to be a surprise.”
Emma held the baby carefully.
“She has her grandmother's name.”
Noah nodded.
“And her great-grandmother's spirit.”
Emma looked at the tiny face.
“What if she grows up and asks who Elena was?”
Noah smiled.
“We'll tell her.”
Emma touched the baby's hand.
“And what will you say?”
Noah thought for a moment.
“That she wasn't perfect.”
Emma laughed softly.
“That she was complicated.”
Lorenzo joined them.
“That she made mistakes.”
Emma nodded.
“And that she learned.”
Noah looked at his daughter.
“Most importantly, we'll tell her that love isn't about being perfect.”
Emma kissed the baby's forehead.
“It is about choosing better when you know better.”
The baby opened her eyes.
Emma smiled.
“Welcome to the family, little Elena.”
