Chapter 77 - THE STORM

One winter night, a massive storm hit Chicago.

Power failed across several neighborhoods.

The foundation received dozens of emergency calls.

Families were trapped without heat.

Shelters filled immediately.

Emma opened every available building.

“Bring everyone inside.”

Lorenzo coordinated generators.

Noah arranged emergency medical care.

Ava organized volunteers.

Mara prepared food.

Grace handed out blankets.

Within hours, the foundation had become a shelter for hundreds of people.

A little boy sat beside a heater wrapped in three blankets.

“Are we safe?”

Emma crouched beside him.

“Yes.”

“Forever?”

She smiled sadly.

“For tonight, absolutely.”

The storm continued until morning.

When daylight finally appeared, the city was covered in snow.

People emerged from the shelters.

Children laughed.

Volunteers carried boxes outside.

Lorenzo stood beside Emma.

“You know what I realized?”

“What?”

“You don't build a strong foundation during calm weather.”

Emma smiled.

“You build it during storms.”

He looked at her.

May you like

“Exactly.”
