Chapter 47 - ELENA'S SECRET
Lorenzo stared at the document on his desk.
“What is this?”
His attorney placed it down carefully.
“Your mother created a private trust before she died.”
Lorenzo's face hardened.
“Why didn't I know?”
“Because she didn't want you to.”
Emma leaned closer.
“What does it say?”
The attorney turned the first page.
The trust had one purpose.
To protect a group of vulnerable women and children from an old network of criminals.
Lorenzo's expression changed.
His mother had known exactly what she was doing.
“She was preparing for the future.”
Emma touched the page.
“What does Victor have to do with this?”
The attorney looked at them.
“Victor's family was involved with that network.”
Silence filled the room.
Lorenzo stood.
“He wants the trust.”
“Apparently.”
Emma looked toward the window.
“He isn't after money.”
“No.”
“He's trying to destroy what your mother built.”
Lorenzo closed the folder.
“Then he picked the wrong family.”
Emma squeezed his hand.
“Together.”
He nodded.
