Chapter 34 - LORENZO’S LAST DEAL
Lorenzo received a call from a businessman he had known during his darker years.
“There’s an opportunity,” the man said.
Lorenzo understood immediately.
Illegal money.
Underground influence.
The kind of empire he had spent years escaping.
“No.”
“You haven't even heard the numbers.”
“I don't need to.”
The man laughed.
“People like you don't walk away from power.”
Lorenzo looked through the glass wall of his office.
Across the courtyard, children supported by Elena’s foundation were planting flowers.
“I did.”
“You really became soft.”
Lorenzo smiled.
“No.”
He ended the call.
“I became free.”
That evening, Emma noticed something different in him.
“What happened?”
“Someone offered me my old life.”
“And?”
“I realized I couldn't remember why I ever wanted it.”
Emma took his hand.
“That means you've changed.”
