Chapter 18 - ELENA’S BLESSING

The wedding preparations were chaotic.

Elena became obsessed with flowers.

Noah wanted to choose the music.

Lorenzo pretended not to care while secretly approving every detail.

Emma watched them all from the kitchen doorway.

For someone who had once struggled to afford groceries, this happiness felt impossible.

Elena approached her.

“Are you afraid?”

“A little.”

“Good.”

Emma laughed.

“Good?”

“It means you understand how precious this is.”

She took Emma’s hands.

“When you defended me that night, you didn't know who I was.”

“I didn't need to.”

“That is why I love you.”

Emma’s eyes filled.

Elena continued softly.

“My son has survived many battles. You gave him something no enemy could.”

“What?”

“A reason to come home.”

That night, Lorenzo found Emma sitting alone in the garden.

“Thinking?”

“Yes.”

“About leaving?”

She smiled.

“Never.”

He sat beside her.

“Good.”

She rested her head against his shoulder.

“I used to think my life was just surviving one day at a time.”

“And now?”

She looked at him.

“Now I'm finally living.”

Lorenzo kissed her forehead.

Inside the house, Elena watched through the window.

She smiled.

Her son had not lost his strength.

He had simply learned where to use it.
