Chapter 27 - THE RETURN TO THE BALLROOM

Ten years after that unforgettable night, Emma and Lorenzo attended another charity gala in the same ballroom.

The chandelier still hung above them.

The marble floor still reflected the golden lights.

But everything felt different.

Emma stood beside Elena, now using a silver walking cane.

Lorenzo smiled.

“Do you remember?”

Emma laughed.

“I remember broken glass.”

“I remember you.”

“You were terrifying.”

“I was?”

“Absolutely.”

Lorenzo chuckled.

“I'm nicer now.”

“Sometimes.”

A young waitress carrying champagne passed nearby.

She suddenly dropped a glass.

Silence spread.

The girl looked horrified.

Guests began staring.

Emma immediately stepped forward.

“It's okay.”

The waitress looked close to tears.

“I’m so sorry.”

“It was an accident.”

Emma bent down to help her.

Lorenzo smiled.

History had repeated itself.

Except this time, nobody laughed.

Several guests immediately helped clean the floor.

Elena watched proudly.

“That,” she whispered, “is your greatest legacy.”

Emma looked around.

No one was being humiliated.

No one was being ignored.

The ballroom had changed.

Not because the people inside had become richer.

Because they had finally learned to be kinder.
