Chapter 16 - THE FALL OF VITTORIO

Vittorio escaped the warehouse but not the city.
Federal agents intercepted his private jet before takeoff.
The evidence recovered from the warehouse connected him directly to the political corruption, attempted attacks, and threats against the Moretti family.
For the first time, Lorenzo had a choice.
He could destroy Vittorio himself.
Or let the law do it.
He chose the law.
“You're sure?” Emma asked.
“Yes.”
“Why?”
Lorenzo looked toward the courthouse.
“Because my mother deserves peace.”
The trial began weeks later.
Witnesses came forward.
Financial records were exposed.
Vittorio’s network collapsed.
When the verdict was finally announced, Elena cried.
Not because Vittorio was imprisoned.
Because the nightmare was over.
That evening, she gathered the family around the dining table.
“My husband spent his life protecting us through fear,” she said. “My son spent his life believing he had to do the same.”
She looked at Lorenzo.
“You don't.”
Lorenzo lowered his eyes.
Elena reached for his hand.
“You can live now.”
He looked across the table at Emma.
