Chapter 24 - THE LETTER FROM THE PAST

On Elena's eighty-fifth birthday, a strange envelope arrived.
It contained a photograph of her late husband.
Elena immediately recognized the location.
An old family estate in Italy.
Behind the photograph was a handwritten note:
There is something he never told you.
Lorenzo wanted to destroy the letter.
Elena stopped him.
“No.”
“But it could be dangerous.”
“So was the truth when I married your father.”
Emma watched them silently.
Eventually, they traveled to Italy together.
The old estate had been abandoned for decades.
Inside, they discovered a hidden room containing documents, photographs, and letters written by Lorenzo's father.
The final letter was addressed to Elena.
He admitted that he had spent years trying to protect the family from Vittorio.
But he had also confessed one devastating truth.
He had wanted to leave the criminal world completely.
He never had the chance.
Elena cried as she read.
“He wanted another life.”
Lorenzo lowered his head.
Emma held his hand.
“You gave him what he couldn't have.”
Lorenzo looked at her.
“How?”
“By choosing a different future.”
For the first time, Elena closed the letter without anger.
