Chapter 55 - THE WEDDING INVITATION

Noah arrived at dinner holding an envelope.
Emma noticed immediately.
“What is that?”
Noah smiled.
“An invitation.”
Lorenzo raised an eyebrow.
“To what?”
Noah placed the envelope on the table.
Emma opened it.
She stared.
“You're getting married?”
Noah laughed.
“I was going to tell you before you opened it.”
Emma slapped a hand against her chest.
“You're getting married!”
Lorenzo stood.
“Congratulations.”
Noah's smile softened.
“She said yes this morning.”
Emma hugged him so tightly he almost dropped his glass.
“What is her name?”
“Claire.”
“Do I approve?”
“No.”
Emma froze.
Lorenzo started laughing.
“I approve.”
Noah laughed too.
The dinner turned into an evening of questions, jokes, and memories.
For once, the family wasn't discussing tragedy.
They were discussing flowers.
Venues.
Music.
Suit measurements.
And whether Noah would survive planning a wedding.
Emma looked around the table.
There was a time when she had thought happiness would always feel temporary.
